new browser tab not opening from WP dashboard

  • Browser problem: (Chrome but also tested this in explorer)
    When I am in WP dashboard for my site I right click the site name at the top and choose open link in new tab. Have been doing this for months but since having a good PC cleanup, ditching old settings and files and all cache and history, this feature will not work! New tab appears and site name url is there is but the site will not load!
    I have tested another site I have on wordpress.com and this still works. Also another site on my main server works OK so there must be a problem with the site I’m working on. But what is it??? I’ve done the obvious like restarting the PC. the only other thing I did before this happened was updating three plugins. Help appreciated

    Forget to say, site loads fine when I’m not logged in. when I’m not logged in I can open as many tabs as I want.
