New Business Theme, embed code issue

I have a small website and i am using the WordPress new business theme. on the the front page is a space for me to put a video, but every time i put the embed code in to the relevant place, all i get showing is the code itself and not the video. Now I am not very technical and do not know how to code. I am not sure if I am doing it correctly, but have followed the instructions on tutorial videos, and it just does not work.
