  • Excuse me, I don’t quite understand what you’re trying to do.
Once you add a new category, it should show up in visibility options.

Recently, on Posts>Categories page, I made three new entries, namely – Newsletter, Goggle D Gook, and Financials – in that order. I also deleted one category not in use. The Category page now lists 27 items. The Visibility button of any widget reveals only 24 categories. All three of the new categories are missing.

The plug-in Home Categories also did not show the new categories. Finding this suspicious, I deactivated it. This makes no apparent difference in how Visibility works.

BTY: widget does NOT disappear, I used Show if instead of Hide if.

    I see.

I forgot to mention that you should have at least one published post under newly created category for it to show up in visibility options.
It looks like you haven’t published any posts under those new categories.

Can you tell me what the conditions are?

RE “disappearing widget”: that was a goof on my part. Please ignore that I brought it up.

RE “newly created category” doesn’t immediately appear in Visibililty: that means 1st post of a category I want hidden will show for awhile. OK, I’ll work around that by creating a meaningless post first.

    Thanks for the help!

In WP 4 it seems that there is a problem retrieving the categories on a multilingual site. They appear for example only in French or in English. I have to logout and login again to make it work.
