I’ve been using PowerPress for 7 years, I use Podcasting Channels, each channel is it’s own show. Yesterday I created a new Channel and all seems fine, however when I create an episode and paste in the media URL (which is directly from AWS) I can validate it fine, but it WILL NOT SAVE when I publish the post. The post itself is fine, but PowerPress will not save the media link.

All of the other channels continue to work fine, it’s just this new one. I have even gone as far as to delete the channel and recreate it, and I have the same problem.

UPDATE… I rolled PowerPress back to v 8.7.7 and had the same problem, I rolled back to 8.7.6. and the problem vanished…

So apparently there is a weird bug in 8.7.7 going forward.

I’ve been trying to do just that, even before I posted here…

The Support page just continuously displays the following message

    Hi edzila60610,

The lead developer of PowerPress saw your question and had this to say:

If they have more than 4-5 channels (or lots of other plugins adding fields to your edit screen), the number of fields you can have on a page will be exceeded. The last podcast channels on the page will not save in this case. Every PowerPrees Episode box can add as many as 100 or more new fields per podcast box.
There are multiple ways to fix:

    • remove unused fields from the episode boxes
    • Increase the number of fields your server supports
    • Remove other plugins you are no longer using that add fields to your edit screen
    • To remove fields in the Episode box, click the gear in the podcast box and remove fields aggressively removing fields you do not use when publishing podcasts.
Increase the number of fields your server supports
You may increase the max_input_vars PHP variable to allow for additional input fields. The max_input_vars variable in PHP is a server level setting, with a default of 1000.
It may be possible to set this in the .htaccess, which would look like this:
      php_value max_input_vars 2000
Otherwise it needs to be set in the apache config files, and would look similar to above, or be set in the php.ini file that the server uses, which would look like:

      max_input_vars 2000

Note you cannot set it with the ini_set() function, this is a setting that needs to be set before PHP code is executed.

    Excellent background, thanks so much.

I in fact have 30+ ‘channels’

I host on IIS not Apache but I shouldn’t have any problems adding the PHP variables. I will also look into killing off unused fields.
