Ask them to check their spam folder. Mails from WordPress tend to look a bit spammy to filters.

It seems like they haven’t received anything. Not even in Spam. I’m wondering if I’m missing any step. For guest authors, is there any other membership that the guest author should have in order to receive the email?

Try using one of these plugins to send mail through an authenticated account:

Thanks for the link. I installed the WP Mail SMTP but in the settings sectionI’m not sure what to fill in the fields “Email and Password”. What kind of credentials am I supposed to provide there?

I tried using the Easy WP STMP plugin and the test email on the plugin’s settings page is working.

However,when I go to the “Add User” page and add the contributor, they still don’t get the email. Is there some general settings in wordpress that can interfere with sending emails ?

Please ask your host to check their mail logs to see if your site can send email.
