New country code please

  • Hi there,

    Would it be possible to include Australia (AU). It’s not currently in your FAQ and when I try adding the country code of AU (country=”AU”) it simply returns the reviews for the global country code (which in my case is US).

    Thanks for using ScrapeAZon. I have added the code. It’s only in the 2.2.8 development version for now. Would you mind downloading and testing that version to make sure it does what you need it to do for Amazon Australia? If everything looks good, I’ll push that dev version to live today. You can download the development version 2.2.8 here:

    The new country code is the only difference between 2.2.7 and this version.

    Hi James,

    No joy with 2.2.8, unless of course it’s user error… the user being me ??

    This is the following message that appears at the top of the relevant page on my (staging) website when I add: [scrapeazon asin=”B017LTD6MQ” height=”400″ country=”AU”]

    ScrapeAZon could not connect to Amazon or was otherwise unable to retrieve data from Amazon. Please check your Internet connectivity, your ScrapeAZon settings, your country code, and your shortcode configuration.

    The US reviews (US is my ‘global’ setting) appear okay, and I can see the ‘Certain content on this site …’ disclaimer below where the AU reviews should appear, but the iframe (I think that’s what it’s called), doesn’t display. I even tried changing the ‘global’ country to AU, with the same end results – no reviews are displayed. Also tried flushing the cache on my server and in my browser.

    If I change the AU to UK in the above code, the UK reviews display okay.

    Hmm. All the changes appear to have been correctly made. However, it’s possible that the affiliate program/advertising API is not enabled for Amazon Australia yet. I can’t find any links to an Amazon Australia affiliate program on the Amazon Australia main page. If such a program exists, you might need to sign up for it separately from your US/UK credentials. Let me know if you can find any information about the program on the Amazon Australia site.

    Hi James,

    Ah, that makes sense. You’re correct, there isn’t an affiliate program for the AU store yet. I’m in the US affiliate program, but not the UK one. I’m baffled as to why the UK reviews also display (if I’m not in their affiliate program), but they do, so I’m not complaining.

    At least AU is there and ready to go when Amazon add the affiliate program. I think that may be sometime next year, when they expand their operations (currently only Kindles and ebooks are available in Australia).
