• With the new Facebook App Review, how do we work around the current submission request that Facebook says your app is requesting. Message from Facebook below. Also is there an issue with setting up new sites?

The Facebook App Review process and API permissions model have been updated. Learn more.
In order to maintain your current API access, your app will need to be submitted for review by August 1, 2018. If your app is not submitted for review, you will lose access to these permissions and features.

    user_age_range
The Facebook Platform APIs have been updated with these changes. Please review the FAQ to ensure you request the correct permissions and features with your app review submission.

  • Hello @adamica,
WP Facebook Auto Publish doesn’t use any of the mentioned permissions.
To allow WP Facebook Auto Publish to auto post to your account with newly created v3.0 apps, you need to set up your Business Manager account, before authorising your application.
In the Business Manager account , navigate to
Settings >Business settings > Data Sources >Apps. Add your application to Business Manager account.
Click here for detailed step by step instructions.
    Thank you.

Will I need to add previously created apps to the Business Manager Account? I have also tried to use the new steps for the Business Manager Account and still receive the “Invalid scopes” error.

Did you add the app you are using in WP Facebook Auto Publish in your business manager account?
Please read the documentation and check the settings once again.
    Thank you.

I have done the extra steps, and I still receive the error. I also checked with my hosting provider, and they verified that the curl/fopen are enabled and the firewall is not blocking facebook. Please let me know what the next step is.

    Hello @adamica ,
As per the Facebook API change-log,

Apps in public mode no longer allow their admins, developers, or testers to access permissions or features that normally require app review. This affects all apps built after May 1st, 2018, immediately. Apps built before then will not be affected until August 1st, 2018.

So all the apps using Facebook native API now requires App review.
Submitting an app for review is a complicated and time consuming process.
Facebook reviewed apps should be working fine with existing plugin code.
We will try to submit apps to Facebook for review and create a guide and update our instructions about it.
Since Facebook closed unrestricted access to its native API on May 1,we are working on an alternative method.
Thank you for your patience and support.

I was looking for info about the new Facebook rules, and I came across this.

“What login permissions do I need for a WordPress plugin?
You don’t need to go through review for your app to publish to your Profile or Facebook Pages that you own. Anyone listed in the Roles section of your app’s dashboard can grant permissions without review. If you want a small number of additional people to have this ability, we recommend you add them as developers or testers in the Roles section of your app’s dashboard.”

The above information is from the facebook dev site. https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/review/faqs

Will this help you any as far as the plugin is concerned?

This is for development, if you make the app public you can’t publish to your pages. The posts added as developer would’t be visible for others.
That’s why few facebook publish plugins has been closed for new installs.
However Facebook reviewed apps should be working fine with existing plugin code.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you.

Are you saying that we need to go through the review process for each instance that we use this plugin?

I am also still receiving the invalid scopes error even after I added the app to the business account in Facebook. Am I the only one still having this issue?

    @adamica ,
Everyone using apps created on or after may 1 have this issue.
If you switch the app from live to development mode ,then it won’t show the invalid scope error and also posts will be auto published to Facebook, but the posts won’t be visible to others since the app is in development mode. These post will only appear when you make the app live.

Your app need to go through the review process for the scopes publish_pages,manage_pages and user_photos to work with the existing plugin code.
Submitting app for review isn’t easy,so we are working on alternative method.
Thank you for the feedback and support ??

Thanks, we really need that fix, please let us know as soon as you find a good way to solve it.
