• Resolved bitpath

    (@bitpath)

    This seemed to work fine for years i believe. Today, after updating it, my site went blank. I deleted the plugin to get my site back up. I re-installed from the repository and it triggered a fatal error attempting to activate with the below full error:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/vendor/guzzlehttp/psr7/src/functions.php on line 78

    This is the first time I received such an error from this plugin. It’s been so great for so long, up until today’s update. Hope this gets fixed soon. Thank you!

    Hello

    I’m running php7.2 and today’s update has broken another plugin: Updraft

    Google_Client::__construct() must be of the type array, object given, called in /wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/methods/googledrive.php on line 689 (Code: 0, line 92 in /wp-content/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/vendor/google/apiclient/src/Google/Client.php)

    Just confirmed that if I disable your plugin then Updraft works fine again.
    I’m guessing its causing a conflict between them using the google api client.

    Cheers
    Matt

    @slaffik thanks man

    Just a heads up for future readers, we are no longer following are responding to this specific thread.

    The original issue was around the error Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘.

    This issue was resolved in the 1.3.1 update.

    If you’re having a PHP Google API error (or similar), please post to this existing issue https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/google-api-problem-2/

    For other issues please create a new issue, do not reply to or bump this thread. It makes it too hard to keep track of things and we don’t want to miss bug reports!

    Thanks!

    When you are breaking everybody’s site, it’s important to get the message out, so you know what you’ve done. You do owe us, not to break the sites. Everybody can’t be wrong, look at the other threads.

    @xfoxx,

    I see that you are a not a developer, so it would be very complicated for me to explain to you the roots of your issue.

    But please, create a SEPARATE thread to discuss your issue if you want to, and do not pollute unrelated threads with your opinions and incorrect observations.

    In any case, please be calm and polite, we don’t owe you anything.

    @xfoxx – One of our sites is also broken and I understand your frustration but you need to chill. I can see the plugin developers are already working on it and have given a suggestion to fix the problem here https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/google-api-problem-2/#post-10448740.

    Since the plugin is free and open source, maybe you can fix the problem? if not, then please allow the developers to work on it.

    @mookie4a4 yes it’s the google api client. The devs reckon they don’t owe us anything so can’t fix it yet.

    @pushkar-gaikwad this plugin is installed in around 900,000 sites and this plugin is locking people out of their admin pages, giving error 500 so don’t tell me anything.
    Just because it’s free, doesn’t give them the right to break everybody’s site.

    Should have been tested properly, or let people sign up to beta test etc, before mass releasing. Now they had to release two updates in 1 day, and still not fixed.

    At least people are reading my message, renaming the wpsmtp plugin folder, and able to get back into their sites.
