It appears that there was a change in the date picker used for date exclusions. It is now using the same recurrence pattern picker as repeat dates. This change in procedure really makes on sense.

Why would an excluded date normally be a recurring exclusion?

Another problem is that any existing excluded dates are erased and you have to reselect them all. This is very problematic when you have 30+ excluded dates on an event and lose all the data.

Please revert and bring back old picker, or resolve the issue another way…PLEASE!

Exclude rules can be patterns to. Imagine that you have a recurring weekly events that foo some reasons doesn’t happen on the first day of a month.
Instad of manually selecting dates you can set that as a pattern.

We agree that the fact that you open the box, excluded dates are lost can be a pain, we are working to fix that

I can agree that there may be some use for the pattern exclusion, but far more often it will be only specific dates that need to be excluded.

Kind of a stretch to classify this as resolved when you admit that you are working to fix it.

Hi, to add specific dates to exclusion you use the “Custom” Exclude pattern. Do you think that the old “Exclude pattern + Exclude dates” was a better UI?

Anyway, yes, we are aware of this and we want to fix this, it’s already in our tracker. I simply marked the issue as “solved” because it’s being handled. If you prefer, i can mark it as not solved, it’s just that afterwards it’s difficult to keep track and close it, it’s just a convention

Thank you for the reference to use Custom. I was not aware of that and was floored by seeing the recurring events window when I tried to do something I’ve done many times before. The Custom tab works fine now that I know to use it.

I don’t mind the issue being “Solved” if that’s your convention. It actually looks like it is solved with using the Custom tab, but I wonder if others have picked up on that. I know our entire team was baffled and was jumping through hoops to do some exclusions. I’ll pass this procedure along to them.

There is still the fact that when you select custom dates and want to change them, you have to re-select them again, which is not exactly the best UX

The exclusion UX issue carries forward unresolved in v2.2.1. You loose all your excluded dates and have to re-enter them every time you make a change. Not good.
