New features and a Pro version

    Hello,

    First of all I want to thank you all for using this plugin.
    When I created it years ago I didn’t have in mind it could help other people.

    Recently, I rebuilt this plugin from scratch thinking in how it could be better.
    I’ve already implemented some ideas like rules and permalinks, and there are more, including the ones coming from all of you. I must thank for this too ??

    Developing these features and giving support take time and to make it all possible I am thinking about creating a Paid version.

    Some new features i am thinking for the Pro version:
    – Renaming old media in background
    – Renaming not only on upload but when attach media to a post too
    – Change img alt (thanks @cosmoweb)
    – Change image title
    – Create custom rules that can be implemented by the user itself (thanks @chrslcy)
    – Create user rule, adding its id or name slug to filename (thanks @danicasati)
    – Create random number rule
    – Change filename manually inside WordPress admin panel

    Honestly, what do you think about it all? I really want to know your opinion.

  • All good features. Why don’t you invite current users of the free plugin to vote on proposed features by embedding a poll in the plugin settings page?

    In principle, yes; I’m always happy to support good plugins. But, of course, at the end of the day it depends on the price vs the functionality.

    In principle yes. Why? Do you have any suggestions?

    The following of your proposals/ideas for the Pro Version sound very interesting to me:

    – Renaming old media in background
    – Change img alt
    – Change image title
    – Change filename manually inside WordPress admin panel

    I’d be happy to stay informed if or when you offer the Pro Version.

    What do you think about using fields from other plugins like “Advanced Custom Fields”. I saw in Import Plugins that you can use placeholder like {{acf_xxx}}

    Hello @wsung-1,

    You mean, If a post has some attachments and also has some custom fields, the attachments could be renamed based on these fields?

    I am actually trying to do that right now. Trying to capture a caldera form field value to prepend to a file name. Haven’t got it yet – not a web developer.

    But on topic, I think the idea of a ‘pro’ version makes sense.

    Hello guys,

    I want to announce that I was able to release the first version of the Premium plugin!

    I’m going to inform that on the next release of the free plugin. Meanwhile you can check it here:

    It has these features for now:

    • Renaming old media in background
    • Change img alt
    • Custom field rule (update filename according to a custom field the post is attached)
    • Create user id rule
    • Create user role rule
