So actually the size of the files are more, then less?
Or I don’t really understand if the “old” files are there, how can the storage be less? ?? Sorry for my noob question! ??

Yes read and also watched YT video.
“By replacing files in standard JPEG, PNG and GIF formats with WebP and AVIF formats”
replacing for me means creating something new and deleting old.

Also “Your current images will be converted into a new format.” – means for me that old images are removed.

But if I got you well, old images stay there so no storage space is earned?

I want to delete old files and simply have all my pngs and jpgs converted into webp.

@barthdesigns Deleting original files is not safe. You will never be able to remove my plugin. In addition, remember that not all browsers support WebP – which means that by removing the original files you do not support these browsers. Additionally, having the original files, you can convert them, e.g. to the AVIF format.

The plugin reduces the weight of images on the website and shortens its loading time – it does not reduce the weight of files on the disk.

That’s a pity and an issue for me as I’m short of GBs and inodes. So I will have to convert jpg to webp manually. I have thousands of images because of a reason on the site. I don1t really matter about that 10% of browers which does not support webp.
I need to save disk and inodes – which is unfortunately not possible with your plugin.
For many space it’s super and well done . unfortunately not for expensive storages where every megabyte counts ??

@barthdesigns After converting the files to WebP, you can delete the original files and then only WebP files will be loaded. My plugin supports this possibility, but remember that you do it at your own risk.

If you want to do it, uncheck the “Automatic removal of files in output formats larger than original” option in the plugin settings, in the Advanced tab. Then save the changes and start converting all files. After the process is complete, you can manually remove the images from the /wp-content/uploads directory and leave only the WebP files in the /wp-content/uploads-webpc directory.

Yes, I have a backup of everything. As mentioned I have about 3000 files, images so that would be a significant thing to remove the original jpgs and pngs.

PNG-s keep their transparency, right?
