• Hi,

Not sure if a Give WP or a WC Marketplace issue so I’m submitting this on both plugin’s support forum:

    1. The Give WP plugin conflicts with the WC Marketplace – or/and vice versa. Actually, upgrading Give WP to its latest version breaks the site if WC Marketplace is activated (resulting in the notorious “The Site Is Experiencing Technical Issues” screen).

    2. Also, since WC Marketplace is active, users paying on the Give WP donation page often see the error message You passed an empty string for 'billing_details[address][country]'. We assume empty values ar an attempt to unset a parameter; however 'billing_details[address][country]' cannot be unset. You should remove 'billing_details[address][country]' from your request or supply a non-empty value – while the Give WP form doesn’t have any address related field.

Thanks for investigating these issues further.

    Hey @lunule

It sounds like the WC Marketplace may be using Stripe to collect payments. If you are using another plugin that uses Stripe to accept payment there is a chance that it may include the Stripe SDK (Software Development Kit) either through composer or manually. This can cause conflicts with GiveWP because WordPress does not have a dependency management system to prevent conflicts like this automatically which makes it difficult for us to be 100% compatible with EVERY plugin that uses Stripe.

To help resolve conflicts we have included two options to use Stripe alongside these other plugins in the upcoming version 2.5.4. The recommended way is Composer, but if that is not working then we recommend Manual Initialization. If both options do not work please let us know. The new version will be out today.

We had a few issues with websites that have other plugins that are also running the Stripe software development kit (SDK). Our most recent release, GiveWP 2.5.4, should resolve that issue. Please update to that and let us know how it goes.

If you have trouble with that, keep our handy WP Rollback plugin ready to roll back to 2.4.7

Keep us updated on how that goes for you. Thanks!

    Hi Devin & Matt,

Thanks for your quick replies – finally we decided to let Give WP go. The reason of this choice was the high number of plugins used on the site, lots of custom codes in the theme files as well, so in the end it seemed to be the best option to replace it with the official WooCommerce Name Your Price extension, already used to handle another custom feature requirement.

Not an ideal solution, but considering the facts you mention as well ( too many plugins connecting to Stripe in different ways => no good ), it seemed to be the most bulletproof amongst the alternatives.

Give WP rulez by the way!! Thanks for the great plugin, we’ll certainly get back to it on simpler sites not requiring a forest of various custom e-commerce features…

Sorry to hear you go but I can understand the reasons. We hope to see you back soon and good luck with your fundraising! ??
