• Beginning January 16, 2024, publishers and developers using Google AdSense, Ad Manager, or AdMob will be required to use a Consent Management Platform (CMP) that has been certified by Google and has integrated with the?IAB’s Transparency and Consent Framework?(TCF) when serving ads to users in the European Economic Area or the UK.

Cookie Notice & Compliance for GDPR / CCPA seems not to be included in List of Google-certified CMPs. Are you going to get certified?

    Hi,

This is a good question and something we’ve been discussing a lot internally. Let me answer this way:

    1. To become a Google-certified CMP you need to provide support for IAB’s Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) as you mentioned
    2. In our opinion IAB TCF is not compatible with many privacy regulations including GDPR
    3. Google is a 3rd party service provider that should be controlled by CMP and not vice versa.

In that context – we’re not sure that becoming a Google-certified CMP is the right way to go. It has nothing to do with handling consent and privacy regulations, it’s all about returning to the point where 3rd parties controlled, owned an processed users data without any control.

This is an interesting answer and perspective, thank you. Maybe Google has its own interests. In any case, if you want to do Google advertising, you are forced to follow their instructions.
