new home page or URL? (need help)

  • OK first off, I am a total noob out here so I need some “special” help, OK?

    I have a hosting service and have developed a page for it. However, the page was developed with a ‘temporary’ URL and I now want to modify that to set a more permanent address for my page. But I don’t know how.

    WordPress 3.0.4 is loaded at my dev site, so I am unsure of what happens if I change the URL, but they are within a single tree at the hosting service. That’s part of what I don’t know.

    I know WordPress is mostly used to develop blog sites, but my purpose has no use for any subscribers, hence all functions relating to posting and comments are irrelevant. I do however wish to establish a ‘blind’ email function for queries, but, importantly, these must

      not

    result in a ‘post’ or publicly viewable text. That’s not an immediate issue, but anyone who can point me to relevant howto stuff would be appreciated.

    Being the nob that I am, help needs to be fairly explicit or contain links to stuff that illustrates. I think I’m pretty good at following directions tho. ??
