New images are not being converted

Thank you for your message.

I’ll try to diagnose it. Please follow these steps:

1. Activate the “Enable the service mode” option in the plugin settings (in the Advanced tab).
2. Add an image to the Media Library.
3. Once the file is added, go back to the plugin settings.
4. Send me a screenshot of the Help Center tab in the plugin settings.

Are you using the latest version of the plugin? Did you follow step #2 from the instructions above?

Yes, I’m using Version 5.5.1
And yes, I’ve added a new image to the media library before taking the screenshots.

I’m using Image loading mode via .htaccess (recommended)
My .htaccess permissions are 444, not sure it matters.

And then please follow these 4 steps again.

As for step 4, all you need to do is take a screenshot of the “Options” section in the Help Center tab.

A rocket followed by number 36 appeared in the top bar for a brief moment, but when I refreshed the page it disappeared. The newly added image has not been converted.

@lauratraveler Now I know what you mean. Do you have any plugin (e.g. Disable WP REST API) that blocks REST API or filter (rest_authentication_errors) in functions.php affecting REST API authentication?

I have the Disable WP REST API plugin installed.

@mateuszgbiorczyk Is there a workaround? Or is the only solution uninstalling the WP REST API plugin?

Honestly, I’d be happy even with manually converting images one-by-one in the media library whenever I add new ones. But forcing the conversion of ALL images every time I publish a new post just seems like putting too much stress on the server. I’d also prefer not to have to uninstall the WP REST API plugin. Thanks!

I understand you @lauratraveler. This issue will affect all users of the Disable WP REST API plugin.

I made a plugin change that adds an exception for REST API endpoints used by my plugin and blocked by the Disable WP REST API plugin. You can download a version of the plugin that includes these changes here:
