• Hi
    Just installed new WP at:
    https://www.attractingbusinesssuccess.com

    It looks OK, but when you click the Hello World! and other
    links the page displayed says:
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    The requested URL /2009/04/18/hello-world/ was not found on this server.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Would someone kindly tell me what’s wrong and how to fix it in a not too technical language, please?
    Thanks a lot…
    Geoff
  • Try changing and updating your permalink structure via Administration > Settings > Permalinks.
    Thanks MichaelH
    It partly worked… only the default setting in permalinks works… all of the others give me the error pages.
    I was set on day and name.
    Do you have any suggestions as to how this bug can be rectified please?
    Thanks – G
    Make sure your host supports mod_rewrite.
    Thanks
    I will ask my host about this… and report
    when I know more…
    Cheers G
    My hosting company has stated they do support mod_rewrite.
    Are there any other avenues to check, please?
    Thanks
    Might use the little script described at Finding Server Info and once the php info is displayed, search for mod_rewrite under the apache loaded modules to make sure mod_rewrite is installed.
    I followed the instruction.
    Uploaded txt file to public_html
    put website/page into browser and got this message:
    ~~~~~~~
    Not Found
    The requested URL /testphp.php was not found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    ~~~~~~~~
    Because of this result, I did not get to the second stage…
    Thanks
    Seems you are not putting that script (phpinfo script) into the web-root folder.
    Would you kindly tell me which folder is the web-root folder, please.
    Thank you
    I just checked my host and been told public_html is the web-root folder, so I am now confused.
    Tell your host you put that testphp.php in your web-root and can’t browse to that.
    I now have pages of data at:
    https://www.attractingbusinesssuccess.com/testinfo.php
    Would you kindly interpret it or tell me the next stage, please
    Thanks
    Well it has mod_rewrite in the loaded modules.
    If you have an .htaccess file, rename name it, update your permalink structure and see what happens.
    Note: delete that testinfo.php (for security reasons)
    I was unsure what you meant when you said:
    “If you have an .htaccess file, rename name it”
    I do have a .htaccess and did rename it by adding
    a letter ‘s’ to the name: .htaccesss. I reset
    permalinks but the same fault occurred – the ‘can
    not find page’ statement.
    Maybe I didn’t give it a proper name?
    I have removed the test file – thanks
