• I run a local news site which was hacked yesterday to redirect to an online pharmacy. I’ve tried going through and replacing the php files and such which had a modification date of yesterday, but of course that didn’t work.

I’m considering doing a new wordpress install so I have all new, clean files and then using the database from the original site so all of my content is still available. The database appears to be fine still.

But, I’m not sure the best way to go about doing this.

    Thanks,
    Eric

  • I am sorry to hear your site is damaged. Do you or your hosting company have a full backup of your site? The fastest and most sure way to repair your site is to restore from a backup made before the hack.

Without a backup your only solution is to repair the site. Follow this guide.

When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.
