new installation tables not created

    Hello
    I created a new database in localhost/phpMyAdmin/ but it has not created any tables.
    Can any one please say what I may be doing wrong?

    A little more.
    When I look at the parent directory C:/xampp/htdocs/directoryname I can see all of the files. The database still has the notice
    “No tables found in the database”

    If I then open localhost/directoryname I see
    “Error establishing a database connection”

    As I had not entered a user anywhere in the installation I did not enter root in the config file. I changed this to root and it seems to be working now.
