As of recently, I have begun to experience an issue with noindex on only one of my websites I use Yoast SEO on. I noticed beginning last week that when I submitted a new post to Google Search Console for indexing I started getting an error when I checked the “Test Live URL” and “Request Indexing” [See image in URL below]

I have not made any changes to website that have to do with Yoast SEO but when I tried to compare what was different between my DuotechServices.com website and others I have, I see that in the ADVANCED tab of Yoast SEO the section “Allow search engines to show this Post in search results?” where the other sites say Default for Posts, currently: Yes the Duotech one says only No. It won’t let me change that to Allow search… and it won’t let me change Should search engines follow links on this Post? to Yes.

My robots.txt and htaccess files still look the same. Not sure what changed to make this error begin or what I should do to fix it.

Hi @lcloer,

Please give us more details on what you mean when you say that you are not allowed to change the values in the Advanced tab from “No”. What exactly is not working as expected? You should be able to select “Yes” both for allowing that post to be indexed and for the search engines to follow the links on it.

In Meta tags of a post or page I started recently getting an error saying “noindex” so I could not submit a page to Google Seach Console like I have in the past. As you can see in the images included below, when I went back to those pages or posts and under the Advanced Tab attempted to change the No Index info it continues to default back to No. It has always been set to “Default for Posts, currently: Yes” but recently that has changed to No and I cannot change it manually.

Another user has reported the same issue recently, which was caused by a plugin used to build landing pages. We do not know yet what that plugin is, but it might be same issue in your case too.

To find out what’s causing this issue, we’d like you to perform a conflict check, to see if the issue persists when Yoast SEO is the only plugin active. Please inform us of the results.
