• Hi Joe: a great option that you coud add to this awesome plugin would be the following.

    1. The map that appears on the screen is not “draggable/zoomable”: all interactions are disabled.
    2. The only accepted thing is the double click/double tap: as soon as you double tap on it (on the phone) or double click on it (on PC), it opens automatically in full screen, and here you can drag it, zoom it in/out, etc.
    3. A button to “get back”, or ESC (like today) would bring you back to the previous view.

This would solve a big issue (for me), which is the fact that when the user drags down with his finger a webpage with a map inside, it happens that the finger touch is captured by the map, and instead of scrolling down the whole page, it starts dragging around the map.

This would also increase a lot the usability on mobile phones, as it would be enough to show a very small map on the webpage with a text “to use the map, double tap on it”, and it would open it full screen/easily zoomable/easy draggable, etc.

Crossing fingers waiting for an answer like “awesome idea! here it is, I’ve done it already” ??

    Bye!

I was thinking of a (possibly easier) alternative: I could show on the screen a STATIC image of the map. By clicking on this map, I should be able to open one of your maps directly full screen… unfortunately, even if you added an option to open a map directly in full screen mode, I think it is not possible to link a shortcode. Too bad…

    Hi @mistermagoo8691,

Crossing fingers waiting for an answer like “awesome idea! here it is, I’ve done it already” ??

I know you have been asking for this for a while now. I have not forgotten and you are not the only person asking for improvements to the map interactions, especially around zooming.

I have had a few attempts at looking in to this, and each time I have run into issues making this (surprisingly) difficult to change. So I have not been able to make much progress… yet!

I do still plan on improving this, most likely adding some Settings so you have control over Map interactions.

The map that appears on the screen is not “draggable/zoomable”: all interactions are disabled.

I have been thinking something similar; adding a way to “Lock” the Map until the user triggers interactions. I will take another look at this when I get time.

    I appreciate your patience.

    Cheers,

    Joe

    Thanks Joe.

Yes, after double thinking, it would be also great an option like “Full screen button only”: this option would hide all +/-/layers/current position buttons from the map, and also avoid any dragging made on the map by mouse/mouse wheel/fingers. The only possible action is a click/tap on the “full screen” button.

Look for instance the map on this page (it’s not my website).

You see? In this case there’s a trick: the first map on which you click is just a a static image that triggers the opening of the full screen map, draggable, etc… this is the behaviour that I would like to reproduce, as it would solve all side effects of the darn mouse wheel ??

This is an example page of my mountain hikes website (oh, I’ve recently translated it in English, BTW): in this one, there are 4 of “your” beautiful maps. If you scroll up and down with the wheel, you will probably see the wheel catching control and moving around the map, unintentionally…

There are other ~40 pages like this one on my website, this is why I am quite sensitive to this topic ?? Even though it is not so much annoying, I’d like to solve it if possible.

Thanks for your help with this, Joe!
    Bye,
