    Heya,
So when I create a page, let’s call it “New Page”, it automatically generates the sluge “new-page”, right? Well if I delete that page and later decide to recreate it with the same name; “New Page”, it forces the slug to now be “new-page-2” instead of just “new-page”.
My assumption is WordPress accidentally (?) doesn’t flush the database to resolve this issue. Can someone help me find a solution? Thanks!

Actually, when you delete a post/page it goes into the “Trash” where it’s held for 30 days (in case you accidentally deleted it). To completely clear out the post/page, go to either the Posts list or Pages list in the admin panel. Near the top you should see links to Published, Drafts, and Trash. Click “Trash” and hit the “Empty Trash” button. You should then be able to create “new-page” without it changing to “new-page-2”.
