New page template: “more” quicktag – does it work?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by “non-default page template”? I’m not sure just what you mean by that.

I have created a new Page template containing a second WordPress loop. The posts in the second loop display, but none of them have the “Read more” link, even if I remove the first loop. Only the whole of each post can be displayed.

The same posts do display the links when they are in the context of an archive. And the first loop doesn’t display the “Read more” link either, although I realise the function only works when there is more than one post (which obviously there can’t be in the first loop).

So I’m wondering if the quicktag <!–more–> does not work in a WordPress Page (other than the homepage).

I dunno, I would assume it does work, since I know it does that for archives. At least I think it does.

Has anyone yet figured this out? I also have a Page (this one has three loops, each retrieving a separate category of posts), and the loop in question retrieves multiple posts, but I get the entire content of the post instead of the first part and the “more” tag. The portion of the loop displaying the post content is identical to the portion of the loop displaying the post content in my index page, where the “more” tag does appear. TIA for help.
