New page to theme like single, index, search, tag, etc?

  • How do I add a new page to my wordpress theme as whatever.php and have it show up as mysite.com/whatever

    in the way that WordPress will grab category.php and display the results as mysite.com/category/etc

    When I create whatever.php and visit that page as mysite.com/whatever or mysite.com/whatever.php, I am 404’d.

    What is the magic?
