New pages not publishing

  • I set up my own linux server and remotely installed WordPress to it. I can access the site. I can edit the sample post that is listed. I can log in. I can create a page on the back end and I can preview it, but the moment I publish it, it cannot be viewed I get the 404 error.

    I have read tons of articles and tried several things but no luck. any assistance is appreciated.

    Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting and renaming your WordPress .htaccess file.

    If that works, then try reading Using_Permalinks before setting a custom permalink structure again.
