I recently moved my personal blog (jamiesthots.com) and since then, all photos that I upload show up with the weird little broken box instead of the photo. All the imported photos are fine. I can also share from an URL.

I can’t figure out if it’s the new site, the new theme or something else?

  • Review the source code of a page with the image(s) not showing. This will reveal the path the older posts used – this may have been hard coded depending on how old blog was or theme or plugins in use…in which case you have to manually edit the databases and replace strings (doing this wrong will break your site!!).

Please provide a site link and we can review better

I’m sorry, that was in total greek to me. I am wondering if I was not clear on one point. The pics from the old blog that were transported are showing up just fine. It’s when I try to upload new photos now that I have the new URL that the photos aren’t working. It’s all new uploads that are broken.

Here is a link to a bad photo:
    https://jamiesthots.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/29104_387647671867_3505596_n-1.jpg

Here is a link to a photo that is working fine (originally posted before I moved my blog): https://jamiesthots.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/jazzy-flower-bed1.jpg

To me, the links look identical except for the name so I think the path is correct.

    Can you verify that

    29104_387647671867_3505596_n-1.jpg

is the actual file name uploaded and can you verify the file is present on the server?

Are you using any image or gallery related plugins?

Yes, that’s the name of the file. I checked it from the file server (if that’s what it’s called?) It’s a download from Facebook so it has a numerical name.

I’m not using any image-related plug-ins. This is just when I use the usual upload tool in a post. I forget if I mentioned that if I use a pic from a URL, it works completely fine. It’s just when I try to upload from my computer to the media library that something gets corrupted.

Also, I just tried adding a page and the page is there but it’s not showing up on my site. I obviously have something wrong in the set up of the site but that doesn’t explain why it lets me publish new posts.

Try renaming the file prior to upload, your server likely does not like files that start with a numeral.

As for the Page issue, can you view it from the page editor?

Can you create a page with just simple typed (not pasted) text?

    Thread Starter Jamie

    (@gingerbreadnewslady)

On the page issue, yes. It’s there in the page editor and it’s original text, not from a Word document. It just doesn’t show up in the menu on the page. This is the page that isn’t showing up: https://jamiesthots.com/about-jamies-thots/

As you can see from the rest of the page, About Jamie’s Thots is not showing up on the left under About Jamie. It is not a nested page. It’s a parent page.

I will try the renaming thing, but I have had other pic files that were named with words and it was the same problem.

I just tried renaming the photo with words and it still doesn’t work. I forgot to add that I’ve tried this is various browsers so it’s definitely a site issue.

Now every time I upload a photo and it’s bad, I get an email that reads like this:

A user tried to go to https://jamiesthots.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/jamie-at-vanity-150×150.jpg and received a 404 (page not found) error.
It wasn’t their fault, so try fixing it. They came from https://jamiesthots.com/wp-admin/media-upload.php?post_id=525&
Here is a little more information about their system. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1180.83 Safari/537.1
And their IP Address is: 72.204.49.98

AH! Got it fixed. A friend logged in to my account and stuff was routed to the slightly wrong place. It’s all fixed now. THANK YOU!
