New post not showing up. I am running PHP version 7.4. I enter a post and save it, and it appears to save, but when I check the website in that category, it is not there. For my test, I only enter an organization name and click the category I need and sometimes enter an address.

I saw that the “roles” do not include administrator. I created an Editor role for myself, but same outcome, I cannot post.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Please clear the WP-Super-Cache cache.

    Does that help?

Steven, I didn’t expect you to reply so fast! I took the action what I thought to clear the cache and refreshed the website (I have an obvious test entry under “Animal Care.” Then I disabled the cache plugin, refreshed, and still no luck. I know it is quite an old website that needs to be updated. Any more thoughts?

Would you please make sure to clear and then deactivate WP-Super-Cache when testing? In my experience, WP will still serve old cached pages even if WP-Super-Cache is deactivated.

Other items to check while testing:

Is the Entry status set to “Public”

Does the [connections] shortcode have options set? If it does, please make sure the new entry meets the requirements of those options.

I hope this helps! Please let me know.

I thought I cleared and deactivated WP Super Cache. I then installed Comet Cache and tried clearing cache with that, no luck. Item is set to public. It has been so long since I set up this website – I poked around for use of a shortcode but don’t know where it is in use.

I wonder if there is someplace set to only show a set number of entries in a category?

If I click on View the Category in the backend, every category defaults to the first alphabetized entry.

RE: I poked around for use of a shortcode but don’t know where it is in use.

When you edit the page, the shortcode will be in the page content area.

RE: I wonder if there is someplace set to only show a set number of entries in a category?

Technically, yes, but it is not documented, so it is unlikely you have used it. If you used this, then the shortcode would let us know.

RE: If I click on View the Category in the backend, every category defaults to the first alphabetized entry.

Correct. The default sort order is alphabetical. This always has been the default.

It would help if you could share the link to the Connections Directory page. I found the “Business Directory” page that has subpages “Animal Care”, “Antiques/Gifts/Shopping”, and so on. But these are not being rendered by Connections. The best I can tell by looking at them is that they are simply WordPress Pages with business contact details entered as page content.

I think my problem goes much deeper than your plugin. This is obviously a very old site that needs updating. I think this site probably did not make the leap to blocks when WordPress went that way. There was no shortcode on the page that should have had the “Connections” shortcode. When I popped it in and saved it, the directory appeared on the Business Directory page. For all I know, I could have decided not to confuse people and have it displayed on the page and maybe chose not to enter it. However, when I go to my menu list, some of my items don’t have URLs (and I’m not talking about the “Connections” category pages).

I created this site as a small project years ago for a local small town. I’ll just have to bite the bullet and update the site. It just needs to be done. Your plugin worked very nicely for this so hopefully I can incorporate it into the updated version. I’ll also see if I can return here and let you know how this all ended up!

Thank you for your kind help, I truly appreciate it! -sweetiowa
