New posts not accessible unless I'm logged into wordpress

I’m using version 3.0.2. My new posts suddenly are not accessible once I log out of wordpress. Thus, I can access/view the posts when I am logged in, but they are unavailable after I log out. They can be accessed through the archive when I am logged out. Instead of the page with the post, the page shows some header text twice and blank grey area. I’ve tried reinstalling the upgrade and switching type of permalinks and everything else I can think of, including recreating .htaccess and restoring the template, grid_focus. I use Dreamhost. I’m not sure .htaccess matters, as I get the same results if I disable the file.
