New posts not allowing short preview, only summary of post

    I started editing our site and it seems all the new posts will take the contents of the post and stick it as a preview under the thumbnail instead of a short preview. This doesn’t happen for any of the existing posts even after I edit them. I tried to make the new post match the existing posts EXACTLY (aside from the actual words) but that didn’t help.
    Below is the link to only one example. This is happening across all pages and categories.

  • @theresagreene, it looks to me as though the first two posts on that page have had explicit excerpts entered for them, whereas the latter two have not (and thus, are displaying auto-generated excerpts instead).

    (And by “explicit excerpt”, I mean that the Excerpt field on their Edit Post screens has been populated with some text, e.g., “CEO” and “President”, respectively.)

    @girlieworks Can you direct me to where that would be in the Edit Post? I have looked for that in the past, even Ctrl+F to find the excerpt on the Editing page. I may be overlooking or looking in the wrong place.

    @theresagreene, click “Screen Options” at the very top of the Edit Post screen and see if the Excerpt box is checked there; if not, check it, then close the Screen Options and scroll back down to look for the Excerpt box (typically, it appears further down and on the left).
