    HI

We put a new website ecommerce site live recently. We have a login and registration MY Account.

I notice we are getting a few people registering but could be possibly dodgy. HOW do we avoid this issue with people registering to the site ? Could they be possible dodgy hackers?

They haven’t purchased anything. But register. How can we safe guard ourselves in case they are NOT real ?

Only reason why I ask, is I’ve heard of a number of websites recently being hacked or compromised. And then I find it strange that 3 have already registered to the ecommerce site, but NOT purchased anything. So therefore they could just be dodgy people?

Usually when a client site goes live and is an ecommerce , normally don’t notice this issue. Most client sites I don’t add the REGISTER button usually.

Do I add a NON BOT recaptcha to these 2 logins and registration area?

Everything for plugins & wordpress is totally up to date so won’t be any issues there.

    Just seems strange.

    Thanks

    Kristin

How can I add a REcaptcha to this page? Is there a plugin?

    Thanks

In the WordPress settings – General tab there’s an option called Membership. Make sure that is unchecked.

    Hi

Thanks for your reply. No that is already unticked.

They have registered via the MyAccount/Registration page. I can see it in the logs.

Normally I don’t have issues with dodgy people registering on a website on the Login/Registration page.

    Thanks

What about in the WooCommerce settings – Accounts & Privacy.

There’s an option to allow registration from the My Account page – is that disabled?

    HI

We ticket that and have allowed that, as we are offering Gift Cards, we need a way for people to create an account and redeem their Gift Card without having to buy straight away.

But normally don’t have issues with people trying to register who are not legit.

    Any advice ?

Then you can’t really stop people registering. It’s probably a bot or something. A captcha on that registration form should help though.

A registered user can’t do anything to your site so just delete them.

    Hello

    Any advice ?

Just as community member @seank123 suggested, you can try to use a CAPTCHA plugin like Advanced Google reCAPTCHA to stop bots from registering in your new site.

    I hope that helps.

Hi there ?? We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
