New Release Mailing List?

    Hello,

    Is there a mailing list that announces every new release of wordpress?

    I realize there’s a option in my profile edit page to “Subscribe to WordPress Announcements (a few messages a year)”. I have that box checked, but I’ve never received any emails! Maybe that’s used for only major releases? Though, I didn’t get a notification for 4.5.0 either.

    How does everyone else get notified when new releases come out? I have automatic updates disabled on my site due to my organization’s change management procedures and I don’t log into the site every day to check. There must be a way for such a large project to have announcements.
