new sidebar pushing content down the page

I have made a number of changes to the fashionista theme. I love how it looks. I have removed the container so that it could be full screen and added a sidebar on the left.

This was my first attempt at adding a sidebar and widget areas. I think I got it mostly right except now…

The initial content of a post is positioned normally at the top of the post but if I have an image in the post, the image and all the rest of the content is pushed down to the bottom of the left sidebar (the right one is the theme sidebar, the left is my added sidebar). If I add widgets in left sidebar they show up fine… all the way down the screen… as many as I want… but the content is pushed down past the bottom of the sidebar.

The same thing happens on archive pages and the front page except it shows the subsequent posts at the bottom of the sidebar again.

I am not sure what code needs to be provided here. Please let me know and I will try and provide it.

I am pretty sure it has to do with the loop or attachments or divs.
