New site recommendations

  • We are about to set up a new eCommerce site and I′m looking for some advice on plugins to solve some of our requirements.

    We need to support both consumers and groups of consumers (ie, sports associations).
    Each group needs the standard product tree with possible added discounts but also a unique product tree for their group.
    I’d expect we will have 50-100 groups in a few years.

    The groups can be defined by hand after agreements have been made but in order to affiliate each consumer with the correct group a voucher would be preferable.

    I’m not expecting a complete guide on how to achieve this. Just some recommendations on which plugins i should look into (if they exist) for each part of the puzzle.

    So far we have done some testing with “Memberships” which solves the group and unique product trees although i worry a little if it will still be workable with 50-100 groups as its not really designed for this scenario.

    If I were you, I would simply use discount coupons and tie them with specific emails.

    Because there will be one single representative from that group who will make the purchase.

    Depending on the amount of the orders, there can be several coupons. Like if the order value is above $500 then use coupon 1, if the order value is above $5000 use the coupon 2 etc.

    No, each customer from the group will make their own purchases.
    It will work something as below,

    1. We make an agreement with a sports association for certain garments etc with their prints.
    2. We arrange a voucher code for that specific group
    3. Each member of the group registers on our site and can then use the voucher to gain membership to the group. Vouchers can be used either at registration or afterwards.

    The members are regular consumers that pay the orders them selves and gets deliveries to their address. Their membership gives them access to specific products and perhaps some global discount.
