• Hi All,

I hope this is the right forum to post this. I just want to share a new site we launched on May 1, 2006. It uses WordPress as a Content Management System. Each “portlet” on the Flash site displays content by Topic fed from the RSS file produced by WordPress. Hope you guys like it!

If you like what you see, please vote for it on https://www.may1reboot.com. It is currently 6th place for most votes. Thank you. Feel free to ask any questions on how this was implemented. Hope to hear from you all!

  • I am on DSL and the site didnt take long for me to load, although I do hate loading pages. I dont see the purpose of them. The site design is appealing to me. I would just get rid of the loading of every page, but each page looks great

I think that removing the reverse load on the flash may help – as that, in itself, is doubling the amount of time a new page can load. What I mean, each time you click a link – the flash “unloads” or rewinds. That has no value to the visitor. JMO.

lillian garcia is pretty hot, but the site is slow and overdeveloped. the design also lacks a clear central port.

Brilliant! no load time lag here with firefox.

    Nice graphics and design.

Not a big fan of heavy flash, but in your case I make an exxception!

As for visitors who loose patience and interest in 10 seconds, what value do they have any way?

I’m using FF and DSL – lag time is 9-10 secs. After 2 loads I’m gone.
Brilliant layout and idea…but I’m not waiting that long.

I’d like to see it, but I really don’t wanna wait *4 hours* for it to fully load. I’m on a crappy Juno dialup..any chance of a descent sized screen shot of the blog’s index page? Thx.. =P

let me say i am impressed by the way you use wordpress to power a flash site like this.

nice gfx, nice girl, nice layout and everything.

going from one menu-item to the next is a bit tedious. deconstruct site, then reconstruct again … looks pretty for the first time, it is a drag after that.

might want to speed up the transitions.

i’d be VERY interested to see HOW actually you got WP content into that site.

    nice job, man!

This is a wonderful application of Flash and even on dial-up it doesn’t take long to load. Great use of colors. However, as a designer I’ve got to say that all Flash sites should also have a link provided for a standard HTML version. Not everyone understands Flash and having a traditional HTML site should be provided for them. It’s just good coding etiquette. Other than that I wouldn’t change anything, and I certainly wouldn’t worry about those people who use IE. When they want to see webpages rendered properly they will start using a browser that complies to web standards. I would just add the HTML section and be proud of your work. Great job ??

My only problem with the site is that the content is hard to read. But I love the idea of integrating Flash and WP with the RSS feed. I am curious how it works though. Is the WP on the back end? DO you have a place to log into? What is the URL for the actual blog? What does the actual blog look like?
