New subdomain installation has old root links

  • This is my website:

    https://kryemadhi.com/realestate/

    and this is my root website:

    https://kryemadhi.com

    A week ago, the real estate website was in the root directory (kryemadhi.com). Then we decided to divide our services and we transferred the real estate to a separate directory and created a new site on kryemadhi.com.

    The root site is working well. The Real Estate site has some problems. I changed the site address and the wordpress address to kryemadhi.com/realestate/ and still when I click the links on my main menu, they transfer you to the root website. I checked on phpmyadmin and the site address and wordpress address are okay.

    What should I do?

    Have you checked both siteurl and home in wp_options table ? If not please update theme with you new url.

    Just moving files from one directory to another directory and changing the site url and home url is not complete process of site migration. There are many places where site url, home url is used. You have to migrate the whole site( Files and database) for switching from one directory to another or one server to another.
    You are facing the problem that when you click on menu it is redirected to old site, it is due to that your database is not migrated. There are many plugins available which is used for database migration. Use one of them and enjoy !!

    Guys can you explain to me step by step what to do? I am a newbie.

    I have X database on kryemadhi.com/realestate and Y database on kryemadhi.com

    What should I do now to fix the menu links on the /realestate?
