Bhoney :: I haven’t seen another theme that uses transparant navigation tabs. So I wouldn’t say it has no originality at all. Have you seen the themes lately that are just copies of Blix with a different banner and colors?

This brings up a good point… what does everyone think makes for an ‘original’ theme? Ajax? Stunning graphics? I find that as soon as I put ‘original’ things in a theme soeone says that it’s too much and not what most people want in blogs… I think I can’t win.

WarAxe, like always, I think your themes are sweet looking and nice.. especially this one. Great job on it! =) And I wouldn’t worry about what “they” or “anyone” thinks about it, really..

It’s almost a never ending battle, trying to be “original”, and please people with something different, only to be slapped down anyways.. sigh.. =( Just don’t worry about it lol.. =) Again..great job on it.. =)

I know what ya mean about the other’s just taking an already made theme and just change the colors a little bit..

Example would be, just to take the header image of the Default 1.5 theme and give it a Black-ish/Grey gradient and say, I’m releasing the Black-ish/Grey default theme.. Download it here! LOL!

I know I’m partly guilty of this as well I guess, because I was revamping the Andreas08 template/ layout or whatever and changed a few things and stuff, well ALOT of changes really.. The original Andreas08 here.. The revamped here.. I dunno, I was trying to be or make it different though.. =/ (Also, no thread hijack intended, just was for example purposes..)

Null :: Okay… sorry, Opera wasn’t one of the browsers I checked it with last night when I put the finishing touches on. ?? I’ll do that this weekend and re-release.

It looks like you put some graphic work into the main body and the navigation such that it has a different “look and feel”. Know what I mean? In short… good job! ??

Thanks for your nice comments WarAxe.. =) Well, actually, this is “technically” the way the theme is when it was converted into a WordPress theme.. =)

Like you said WarAxe, I have added alot of imagery into it.. =) The way it currently sits, I’m using a post.php file, going off the same basic “setup” as the ShadedGrey theme by Sadish and Patricia.. =)

But did a little more modifying to it, rather then just using their post.php file setup.. So I can have the images at top and bottom of the post box.. Besides all that, I have it so RyanDuff’s WP Contact Form is implemented nicely into the theme as well as a plain jane Contact.php file, basically used from the Blix theme.. =)

Of course, being the nice respectful person I am lol, all credits will be given to those that require it, like Andreas, Sadish, Patricia and so on.. =) Anyway, I’ll have to specify everything and where it all came from as well..

But for now, I better shut up and stop taking this off topic lol. This is your thread, not mine.. =)

The wine-red gradient is an exquisite backdrop that frames the header wonderfully while the black-and-white logo graphic almost captures and freezes time. Additionally, the framing of the content area and the white background creates a feeling of openness that draws users’ attention to the content. The navigation structure of the menu works but the link color could use some contrast. Overall, it is absolutely wordapressful. Great job.

I think most people are just interested in blogging and may not have a need or desire to create a brand-new-spanking-original design for their blog, whatever
‘original’ is, as it means something different to everyone. The design may attract users, but it is the content that keeps them coming back.

I agree.

Some feedback: looks great (waiting for Opera fix :)). The background starts with black, then red and then white. The rest stays white, perhaps better to make that part light grey instead of white, because the main blog-reading-background is white too. Well not realy a big thing, can easily be set by a user himself…

Ok. Nobody can say I don’t listen. ?? The background is now light grey (Null). I fixed the Opera bug (Null)… I hope it was the navigation tabs because they were the only thing I found (Null, if that wasn’t it let me know). ?? Navigation tabs have increased hover contrast (bagel). Now search will search everything (Pheonix)… I know that’s not a theme thing but a WordPress settings thing… but I thought I’d be accomodating.

Additionally, I spiced up a little bit of style (probably only I’ll notice but that’s ok). I fixed a nasty IE overflow bug in my floating elements (using the negative three pixel margin hack). I added a shadow underneath the side graphics and the header.

Perfect, Opera bugs are fixed, looks great, dowloading ??

Got another idea (I don’t know it this can, but would be cool), make the names of:
Admin -> crimson red
guest -> keep them grey
registrated -> dunno black??
moderators -> same as hyperlinks

Well you can choose your colors ofcourse it’s just a suggestion. phpBB uses this too and I find it a very nice feature (which no other skin has yet). You can see from the color of the name, what level someone has.

Have to say it’s nice, even though I wouldn’t use either of its “parents” on the dog’s blog….
