• After endlessly tweaking other themes, I have finally decided to create my own theme from scratch…and now have an annoying problem.

Whenever I create a new post, it will not autosave as it had previously done.

When I hit the tab button after filling out the title, the permalink will not autopopulate either — it will go straight to the content field.

When I click on the “Preview” button, nothing happens. Only after I click the “Save Draft” button first will the permalink field autopopulate, and I am able to preview the post.

It’s not a big problem, but an annoyance. And I can’t figure out why it is doing this!

I know that it is the new theme that is causing the problem because every other theme works fine.

If anyone could shed some light on this problem, I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks!

I just wanted to post an update for anyone else in the future who might run into the same problem. The issue was with the functions.php file — there was a missing curly bracket at the end of the file and while it did not cause problems anywhere else, it was preventing my theme from autosaving.

Thanks for anyone who took a look.
