New theme with old content

  • Hi,

    What is the easiest way to do this? I assume there are a lot of possibilites, but I don’t want to screw up the old site before my new site is complete. Can I do it like this:

    Clone the website to a subdomain using a plugin
    Copy the database and import it to the subdomain
    Change theme and complete the website
    Move the subdomain to the root at the end

    Am I missing something and is there a better/safer way to do this?
