I am evaluating this tool to offer courses on my site but I am having difficulty with the navigation. I have entered the outline of my course as follows:

    Introduction
    – Introduction (*I have this page visible)
    – Goals
    – Structure
    – Tools
    – Logistics

    CONTENT Section
    – Lesson 1 (*This is listed as the “next” link)
    – Lesson 2
    – Lesson 3
    – Lesson 4
    – Lesson 5

I have the Spacious theme, so I did follow the instructions to get the Labs for Super Sidebars and also have Action Manager enabled.

Q1: The right side bar does show up (along with the Progress bar that I added), but none of the items are clickable (although they are collapse-able). Is it because I have listed the course as a Private vs. Published page? (I wanted to work on it and make sure it was not exposed to the public by accident.)

Q2 (MORE IMPORTANT): The navigation that happens appears to not follow the lesson order. Under Course Information (on the main Course page) there are big gray boxes (which are clickable) and follow the section / lesson correct order. However, if I click into the first one (*Introduction lesson of the Introduction section), the “next” type navigation at the bottom of the lesson points to *Content Section > Lesson 1. I expect it to point to Introduction > Goals (i.e. within the same section). I have set the Order field of every page in the course, to no avail. This is a showstopper for me: please help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello there,

If the LifterLMS sidebar widgets are not showing up for you, you’ll need to activate the “Super Sidebars” Lab: https://lifterlms.com/docs/super-sidebars-lab/

The LifterLMS course hierarchy works like this:

    Course
    – Secton
    — Lesson

Sections do not hold content, but lessons do. If the Introduction section has the Introduction lesson as lesson one, the next lesson should be your Goals lesson (lesson 2).

Make sure you are using the course builder to order your lessons and sections in the desired order: https://lifterlms.com/docs/reorder-lessons-sections/

Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Hi Chris,

I am already using Super Sidebars. I also understand how the hierarchy is supposed to work. The courses / lessons ARE showing in the correct order in the course builder, but NOT when I view them. Also, the course hierarchy is not clickable.

Brief update: The right side-bar has clickable content now that I have practiced “enrolling” in the course. However, the “previous/next” nav is still incorrect.

    @38kali,

Lessons are *always* non indexable / viewable by visitors and users unless you’re enrolled in the course. If you want all your content open and accessible you can mark your lessons as FREE on the lesson edit page and then you can jump around without enrolling.

If I had to guess, the “Previous” and “Next” navigation are more than likely being output by your theme. Most themes treat custom post (courses, lessons, etc…) as blog posts and that kind of navigation is common on most blog posts. So it’s probably out of order because they’re cycling through lessons by DATE rather than by the actual order.

I took a look at your site to see if I can figure that out for you and it looks like you’re not using LifterLMS there anymore. Welp, sorry if we’ve failed you here and best of luck!

Yes, I was finding lots of other bugs and decided to go with another system. Thank you anyway.
