• Hi All,

For some reason I keep seeing “Translations New translations are available” and when I try to update it this error:

    Updating translations for (en_US)…
    Download failed. Unauthorized

    Go to WordPress Updates page

I followed these instructions but that did not resolve the issue. Do you guys know how to fix it?

I disabled all plugins just an FYI and still the same issue

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Can you tell if the missing translation belongs to a specific plugin? If so, which one and did you buy a commercial license for it?

If this is not recognizable: do you generally use plugins from which you have bought a commercial license?

Such updates are also available for deactivated plugins. If you want to have them completely gone, you would have to delete the plugins.

    Thanks for the reply,

from what I researched and the link I provided above it appears to not belong to an plugin because as I mentioned

    1. I disabled all the plugins one by one and the update did not go away and/or I was not able to update it

    2. If you read the url above it appears to be part of WordPress itself

There is no link in your initial post. I dont know which link do you mean.

And as mentioned from me disable plugins does not prevent their update. You have to delete them to prevent updating.

Have you tried to delete the plugins as I already wrote?

Have you also checked, as described under the link, whether the file permissions for the language files are correct? Where these are is also described in the link.

What plugin? There is no translations plugin as I was mentioning.

The message about the missing update refers to the language files of the plugins. These contain the texts that you see, for example, in the backend on the settings pages of forms. It is not about a translation plugin.

And which plugin you should delete I can not judge because I do not know your plugins.

    Again as I mentioned

    1. I was trying that step from the above URL to see if that would resolve the issue
    2. I have disabled all plugins and went one by one trying to run the update.
    3. I have only a handful of plugins installed BackupBuddy, Gravity form, wordfence and iTheme Security .

No language translation plugin has been installed. This is the only website I am having an issue with this issue.

Also this is what I have done so far

    1. re-install the wordpress (direct dashboard)
    2. re-install wordpress manually (FTP *cpanel)
    3. PHP version variable (check & uncheck different)

We’re going in circles here because you still haven’t applied my only tip above and keep repeating things that I’m already aware of. My advice would be to contact your hoster – there may be a problem with the hosting. If that doesn’t help, you could also find someone who looks at your project directly to help. You can find people for this here, for example: https://jobs.wordpress.net

I have contacting my hosting company and they went through all my settings. They said it is a www.ads-software.com core issue.

Sorry if it feels I am repeating myself. I am just going by what I have been told and been troubleshooting:

    1. It appears not to be a plugin because as I mentioned I disabled them all and tried to run the update.
    2. I went through all the folders to make sure they had all read/write permissions on the servers
    3. I did hire someone to assist and they went through this:

    1. re-install the wordpress (direct dashboard)
    2. re-install wordpress manually (FTP *cpanel)
    3. PHP version variable (check & uncheck different)

I need someone who understands exactly what this www.ads-software.com Translations feature is and how to fix it.

Is there anyone who is part of the forum who knows what it is because it appears to be a white whale at this point?

    (@knssconsulting)

it appears every developer I talk to feels it is a plugin issue until they start investigating. Then they keep telling me it’s part of www.ads-software.com core website and I need to go to www.ads-software.com and ask for support.

Can someone help me with this issue

    1. Does anyone know what “Translations” is for WordPress and how it works on a technical level? I know it’s the option to have the website accessible to different languages. I need someone who understands the backend of it

    2. How to fix it and why is this error keep coming up?

    Thank you,
