How can you release a plugin that runs on live websites, with syntax error?

PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /wp-content/plugins/facebook-for-woocommerce/includes/Products.php on line 1181

  • I have this also. Hoping for a fix

I had to delete this app from the hosting admin

I just had this exact same problem, I went to “file transfer” on the CPanel and search for the path of the facebook plugin and just delete it. Problem solved

    same problem.

Yep same for me – managed to recover the site using the WordPress recovery mode, and have deactivated Facebook for Woocommerce. Site is now back up, but that’s a pretty serious issue to have, not impressed.

    the same

Trying to debug the actual cause – the code in question parses in PHP7.3 but fails in anything lower. 7.3 and above should be fine, but my host is running an older version, I suspect the same will be true of others here.

I’m just trying to pinpoint why PHP5.6 doesn’t like the syntax.

Update PHP Version to 7.4. Its working for me

@kamleshmpatel Not an options for a lot of people – they will be at the whim of their web host.

It will work with 7.3. I have a 5.6 parser that it breaks in. My host’s max at the moment is 7.2, and it appears to break on that as well.

    Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I’m sorry this version of the plugin caused issues on your site. We’ve just released version 2.1.1 of the plugin, which contains a fix for the issues in version 2.1.0.

If you’re interested, you can find more information about the error itself in the post from maxphi in this thread.

Would you please try updating to the latest version of the plugin? If you run into any issues, please don’t hesitate to create a support thread for us to help you directly. ??

    Cheers!
    Benjamin
