  • Thanks to Vaultpress I could reload an older version. So waiting for an update from CV to go ahead with the update.

I too have the same problem.

My site also crashed up. I reinstall the previous version using the plugin WP-Rollback.

I can’t get into my Dashboard so I guess I’m going to have to restore a backup. I have FTP access but have never done this before.

I don’t have any backup/restore software, just the standard WordPress daily backups.

Can anyone give me a bit of advice?

Do I simply restore the whole public_html directory, or just part of it and is there anything else I need to do?

    Thanks!

Tony… Go in through FTP and just change the name of the plugin folder…. ie. add a number or letter to the end of it. This will cause WP to disable the plugin and you should be able to access the website admin panel. You should then be able to delete the plugin from the admin panel and upload the 1.8.5 version from the link posted above. Your settings will be retained even if you delete the plugin from within the plugins page. Don’t worry about that. Just install the 1.8.5 version and you should be ok.

    Hey Tony,

Connect via FTP and navigate to /public_html/wp-content/plugins. Delete the content-views-query-and-display-post-page folder. This should allow you to log into WP admin. Navigate to the Plugins page; you’ll get a notice from WordPress that the Content Views plugin has been disabled because the file doesn’t exist, which is fine. Download version 1.8.5 using the link provided up-thread and then install and activate that as you normally would.

Tony… I don’t mean chang the name of the entire plugin folder… I mean the folder for the specific plugin itself…. Hopefully you understood that. ??

    Thanks drinxx and karpstrucking!

In my panic to get this sorted I ended up copying the whole backed up public_html directory over the old one and it seems to have sorted everything!

Control panel is now back and all seems well. Scary stuff for amateurs like me but at least I learn something every time!

Same problem like everybody else. Used the WP Rollback plugin to resolve it. I hope the authors will fix it soon as I am planning to go pro with it

I accessed the File Manager in cPanel and edited the php file (content-views.php) by commenting out Line 35 which is causing the error.

    //include_once( PT_CV_PATH . ‘includes/3rd-plugins.php’ );

Everything appears to be working fine now. I’m sure they’ll roll out 1.8.7 very soon to address this issue.

    cultoftheshadow,

I already have the pro version, although it was the free version which remains installed when you go pro that seems to cause this problem. I really like it.

I’m wondering if the reason I lost the dashboard when everyone else didn’t was that I have the pro version as well.

Crashed my site with the update this morning also. I removed the plugin and then installed the most recent version (downgraded). You can find the link here: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/content-views-query-and-display-post-page.1.8.5.zip

    Dear all CV users,
I’m truly sorry for this fault. The file was missing unexpectedly from the SVN repository.
All your Views & settings will be remained. Please don’t worry.

The problem is solved now. You are safe to update to CV 1.8.6.
    Best regards,

All working fine now – thanks

    Here as well!
