I will keep the version i have for now until i know if the saving with my host will do the trick. As i have used the backups they have before for my forums and worked a treat, just not sure if its the same for the blog

If you are refering to your host ‘backup’ feature for WordPress blog, there is one thing you have to check:

Does my host backup feature, backup the database AND the files that WordPress uses?

I would assume that your host does indeed backup the WordPress files and the WordPress database, especially if you are already backing up forums and blogs like WordPress that use a database (if u have backed up WordPress in the past, then yep you are good to go!). If your hosting company provides well documented help files, then searching this term in google will probably give u the answer straight away

does My-Hosting-Company-Name back up WordPress?

Caution: For security reasons, it is recommended to always update WordPress, as older versions could have security holes that are well known.

At the very least please install this plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/updraftplus/ – and do a manual backup of your database, have it sent to your email and then update WordPress.

Hi here in it right now database as you said seems ok the files will this be the back up directory?

and says back up

Backup Directory
If you check this the entire folder will be backed up
Backup Database
If checked the database will also be backed up

But there is a update notice actually in my blog confused.com as this reads to me in my Softaculas back up section that I have the latest version

Do i still need to do this update in my actual blog now totally confused as does not take a lot lol

Yes you will still need to click update in the WordPress dashboard. Sometimes the server host installers like Softaculas can get the version number wrong with WordPress on your website, but the WordPress updater is more accurate.

Using Softaculas in your hosting: Go ahead and check where it says Backup Directory and Backup Database. wait for this to finish backing up there should be an indicator of some kind, make sure you get confirmation before continuing.

After this has finished backing up, go back into your normal WordPress dashboard and click update there.

That should be enough to get you updated to 4.1 safely.

I was just looking at confused.com, and as far as i can tell, it is not a WordPress site, am i mistaken?

Is it possible that confused.com is using different software and when you view Softaculas you are viewing a different subdirectory or different domain all together?
