This is the error message I get anytime I try to update to version 1.16.26.

Update Failed: 500 Internal Server Error Request Timeout This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase ‘Connection Timeout’.

Error: You do not have UpdraftPlus completely installed – please de-install and install it again. Most likely, WordPress malfunctioned when copying the plugin files.
And this is only specific to Updraft.

    Hi @hartology

It is possible that the update has failed partway.

Can you please re-install the plugin? You will not lose your settings and backups in the process.

    Best Wishes,

Thanks for your reply. But I’ve uninstall and reinstall yet it’s still the same error. But when I revert to the previous version everything works well. When I try to update again, it consistently failed to update. I even downloaded a fresh copy of the new version, and tried to install, but it still failed. So I concluded that a bug in the new version us causing it.

    Hi,

Do you get the error when activating or during install?

If you get the issue only when activating, please can you ask your host/server admin if they see any error in the PHP error log?

If during install, can you also try to manually install the plugin? First, remove ‘updraftplus’ folder via FTP from the ‘wp-content/plugins/’ directory.

Then manually upload the plugin via FTP. Download a fresh copy of the plugin from our install guide here. Then, unzip and upload to ‘wp-content/plugins’ so it becomes ‘wp-content/plugins/updraftplus’.

After uploading the files, you can then activate the plugin from your WordPress dashboard.

Please let me know if you get the same issue.

    Kind Regards,
    Bryle

I get the error during installation, it never really get to finish the update. So I’ll have to try this new suggestion you brought, I’ll update progress here later.

I was able to restore the plugin by the above method. It fails to install any other way,

Thanks @bcrodua, I was able to download and upload the folder via cPanel, and then activated it from my site. Everything works well now. Thanks for helping.
