• I wanted to know if my customized Home Page Still Exists because the default theme Home Page has overridden my page. I went to the page editor. When I chose View, the default theme page of Eductional Block content displays. When I chose Edit, my customized page displays. Apparently my website Home Page is not displaying my custom page but the default theme page. I’m unable to make the theme default to my custom page. I’ve followed ChatGPT instructions: It sounds like my home page is still intact in the editor but isn’t set as the active home page. The issue likely lies in the settings controlling which page WordPress displays as the homepage. None of these suggested steps resolved the problem. This issue has occured after the recent Jan 27 update.

I contacted the author directly last Saturday. He/she has not responded. I had to implement a different theme to capture at least some of the content I produced for the page so it still is not correct but not as bad as having the theme’s dummy page appear. Apparently, the author is asleep at the wheel and doesn’t appear to be paying attention. I wonder if paying customers get the same treatment. This is my business site’s Home Page that’s out of whack.

    Hello @mountain-dude ,

    For your above query,
This happens because of the presence of the “front-page.html” file in the “templates” folder of the theme, which is a common practice for block themes.

The front page displays your site’s homepage, whether it is set to display the latest posts or a static page. The Front Page template takes precedence over all templates.

A solution would be to remove that file from your theme or rename front-page.html to home.html, but in the future, it will reappear when you update the theme.

Another solution is to modify the Front Page template in the Site Editor or set your reading setting to the static posts page and edit the index.html template.

    Thanks.

You said, “Another solution is to modify the Front Page template in the Site Editor or set your reading setting to the static posts page and edit the index.html template.” without saying what needs to be edited in the index.html file. Since you are the author of this theme and you have created what I understand to be a recurring problem for every user every time there is an update I find that unacceptable. I have purchased the theme for $40 so I expect something more helpful than this. I am requiring a fix which doesn’t need to be attended to every time you update the theme. Should I or anybody else, as an end-user, have to implement various coding, renaming, or deleting or editing to avoid these functioning mishaps due to your default theme design? You said, “A solution would be to remove that file from your theme or rename front-page.html to home.html, but in the future, it will reappear when you update the theme.” Tell me and others if I’m missing something here.

Request to Fix the Homepage Override Issue

Subject: Urgent: Pro Theme Overrides Homepage – Need Fix and Proper Support

    Hello,

I purchased the Pro version of this theme and received only an invoice and a unique license key, but no installation instructions or dedicated support channels for paying customers. This has left me with no choice but to seek help through the free version’s support forum, which is not an acceptable customer experience for a paid product.

I am experiencing a major issue where my custom homepage is being overridden by the default theme template (front-page.html). Despite following standard WordPress procedures—setting a static homepage in Settings > Reading, editing index.html, and even renaming front-page.html—the theme continues to force its default layout, making it impossible for me to display my intended homepage.

This issue is critical because my website is for my business, and an unexpected theme update should not be allowed to disrupt my homepage. Given that even the free version has caused substantial issues, I am extremely hesitant to install the Pro version without first receiving clear installation guidance and written assurance that it will not break my website. What I Need from You as the Developer:

    1. A permanent fix or an update that allows customers to easily set their own homepage without manual file edits.
    2. Proper installation instructions for the Pro version, including what to expect during installation.
    3. A dedicated support channel for paying customers—relying on the free forum for support after purchasing the theme is unacceptable.
    4. Confirmation that installing the Pro version will not disrupt my current website.

I should not have to modify core theme files after every update to restore my homepage. This issue likely affects other paying customers as well, so a proper theme update to resolve this should be a priority.

Please provide a solution as soon as possible. I look forward to your prompt response.

    Thank you.

Then the developer cannot help you here. They will get into real trouble if they support the paid or pro version here.

For pro or customer support, please contact the developer on their site. This includes pre-sales information.

As the developer is aware, customers may not be supported on this site.
