• Dear WordPress
I’m new to Word Press and only set up my blog on Friday last week. This morning I woke up to a message from a new user. When I enter the site that user has been subscribed as an administrator and posted and article. What’s going on? How did that person get that privilege without my permission? Is my blog hacked? I’m new to this. Please help

  • If I were you, I’d do the following immediately:

    1. Delete the user
    2. Do not allow anyone else to register (Settings – uncheck Anyone can register)
    3. Remove the article
    4. Install a security plugin (like Wordfence) and perform a scan

Thank you Gabe. I have deleted the user and disabled the “anyone can register” and removed the article. Will install the security plugin. I’m learning.

You’re welcome. After the scanning and solving for any corrective measure, your security plugin should also be configured to notify you if this happens again. Best of luck!
