New user – How Do I Install WordPress?

  • As a new user, I need some help installing the program on my PC. I’ve downloaded WP 3.2.1 and haven’t a clue what needs to be done. Other blog platforms are so much easier to install but I would still like to give WP a go. What is the simplest way of installing?

    I uploaded the files to GoDaddy windows host and I’m using my secondary domain sweepbook.com and I just get the 404 error?

    @hounddog905: Can I ask why you want to install WordPress locally as opposed to using it on a remote server?

    My thought was installing it locally versus a remote server would be easier, plus I havent’ decided which web host to use. I wanted to install it locally to try it out and get familiar with it before uploading it.

    Fair enough. It’s just that some people think that they have to install it locally to use it remotely – IYKWIM. ??
