When a new user registers through WordPress, two blank boxes are available. Not everyone knows this means to enter a user name followed by a password. Is there anyway to provide additional guidance for new users? Some verbal clues would aid new users.

Are there plugins that would help users get around these vague registration boxes currently available in WordPress?

Given that the two boxes SAY ‘Username’ and ’email’ I think that’s pretty obvious.

When I register as a new user, I’m not seeing those verbal clues. All I see are two blank boxes. I never paid much attention to this until a prospective new user brought this to my attention.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    esmi,

You hit the solution. I had a registration plugin that was causing the interference. When removed, the login verbage kicked into action. Thank you for your help.

I know one I deleted was
    Custom User Registration Lite.

I’ll try to remember the second one I deleted.

I think the other registration plugin I deleted was fwp Member Registration.
