• Hi, I am a paid licensee for PDF Embedder Premium Secure version recently received. The version 5.1.0. was a major failure at first since pdfs were not embedding at all and it took a long while before service replied and the new version 5.1.1. was released. However, now the watermark feature is not working at all, and frankly I am not what else is not working behind the scenes of the plugin! It seems the new version efforts have gone backward in features and am not sure what was the point of it, since even the new version is not meeting the new wordpress 6.1.1 compatibility requirement. For some of us Premium Secure version users we have an added trouble of having to deal with excluding js files from minifying and each time we have to wonder what to do, since you do not update your documents for each version, or at least provide new instructions with each feature. So, I am not sure if the watermark issue has something to do with minifying exclusions or not. The pdfs are loading now, but without any watermarks.

I do not have the pdf bar issues (watermark still missing), but I can confirm rmarkb’s point regarding the disappearing WP top bar on site pages when admin is logged in. I actually was wondering about that missing bar on regular pages for a while, though recently noticed it, but now I deactivated the plugin temporarily and noticed the bar came back, and went away again after reactivation of the plugin. What else is this plugin doing to our sites without us not noticing it?

I had a problem with backup plugin authorizing with Google Drive recently, that started just about the time I upgraded to 5.1.0. I had to pause Cloudflare to relink after a week of trying to figure out how I can relink and can’t still explain why the problem came up in the first place. This is just in case others have similar problems. In the process some cron not working issues were coming up. These latter issues may have nothing to do with PDF Embedder, but I am just sharing in case it has happened to others.

I would definitely hesitate giving admin access to their help staff for wp, and more so for cpanel, as I am not sure what is going on, and what could inadvertently happen if they try to fix things the wrong way. They either do not respond or when they do (once for me after many days to apologize and report the 5.1.1 fix, which I did appreciate) they don’t come back to respond for further related questions.

I forgot to report a problem that happened when upgrading to 5.1.0 initially. I remember when I upgraded routinely at that time, instead of the plugin remaining activated, it went by itself to a deactivated mode, so I had to reactivate after the upgrade, which seemed odd to me, and actually that is why I immediately noticed the pdfs not loading issues.

This did not happen with 5.1.1, but I think for anyone caring to fix things in the plugin, that may be a sign of something being wrong and breaking when the upgrading was initiated at that time. Overall, I had to restore from a backup to go to way things were before 5.1.0 before 5.1.1 came out, still with watermark and now WP top bar missing problems.

For those who may be interested in reverting back to the 5.0.2 version, you can login to your purchase account (if you purchased) and download that version (and keep it for a while!) and upload it as a new plugin update (it will ask to replace the existing later update 5.1.1). I did it just in case there are other issues with this plugin affecting my WP site. The wordpress admin bar now appears correctly while logged in to site. the watermark also seems to be working again as in the past.

It seems the plugin’s not having been updated for wordpress 6.1.1 (still not compatible), is a problem causing all these issues. Meanwhile, NO WORD is coming from them regarding these problems, as if they don’t even care to reply. I will keep the older version active until something is heard from them. Site Health will complain, …

Some of us have hundreds of pages of embeds and we have spent tons of hours embedding the links, having purchased their annual license each year hoping to have a peace of mind that we will not have to do the embeds all over again with another plugin, if there is one that meets the needs.

I find the silence of the plugin staff itself the strangest, and most disrespectful of their customers. I received an apology at some point, but then things went into silent mode again. They can at least tell us what is going on and whether they are going to resurrect this plugin again. It seems they forgot they have a secure/premium version altogether.

I want my current year fee refunded, or credited for next year, if there is any future in this plugin. They have already wasted a lot of my time.

I have not updated yet, busy with other things, but also hesitating and wanted to backup site before trying the new update. If you use premium/secure version and cache and minifying plugins, the above may have to do with js exemptions needed for the new update. Unfortunately, I would myself be in need of help from plugin folks for that if I update.

5.0.2. is working for me, and it may be better to get some serious overdue explanations from the plugin folks before updating things. The last time they updated, it did not work, so not sure if this time around we have other problems. The new update troubles began using a different directory to store the plugin, so exemption paths must be modified for that reason.

Unfortunately, due to lack of support response, we are left making suggestions on our own to each other. If you have CPanel access and can see the directories, you can adjust exemption paths.
