‘New Version Available’ although most current is installed?

After upgrading the core, it keeps displays that “There is a new version of WordPress available for upgrade.” Even when I upgraded a minute ago it keeps displaying that message. Then upon upgrading I can see that the version is the same but still, the message keeps telling me a new version would be available (although it’s not).

Is it because it’s a development version and it will be gone in the final release?

This holds true in all 2.7 beta and RC versions.
