New Version for WordPress 4.0 Soon

Thanks for working on the WP4 update for your incredibly useful plugin.

I’ve tried testing the development version but can’t seem to get it working. For what it’s worth, here’s the page I’m testing it on:

Ah… Er… I got distracted and forgot to push the latest code to dev. I’ve now done so and I think it ought to work this time.

I should also have prefaced the post with “things may not work as expected.”

In case it’s useful to you, this is the problem I get when using the plugin with WP4:

The lightbox functionality works, but instead of displaying my jpg image within the lightbox that opens, it displays a massive amount of text characters that starts with the below snippet. I know that the link to my image works because I can option-click and open the image in a new browser tab without problem… so the plugin is doing something to mangle the image file.

Did you install over an old version? You might need to use the reset option at the bottom of the admin panel. I haven’t finished the database update code yet and made substantial changes to how the options are stored.

EDIT: so I’ve seen that happen before and what it’s doing is sending the image as not an image. If you reset the plugin double check that Primary Settings -> Other -> Files as Photo is not checked.

I figured out the problem — the php code I had written to generate the image links had linebreaks and when I removed them, it’s working now. Very excited! Thank you very much for your time in working through this with me.

I just started using this plugin yesterday and it’s pretty good — it mostly works. (Thanks for making it available, by the way!) But I’m having some problems so I thought perhaps checking out the beta version might be a good idea to see whether they get resolved. (I’m also posting my issues in another thread.)

So, I know how to manually install a plugin but I’m just wondering whether you can suggest any best practices or procedures to follow. Should I deactivate the current version before uploading the new one? How can I transfer the settings over (there are a lot and it took a while to set up)? Anything else I should do or know?

So, I’ve tried your Beta plugin for WP 4.0 and could not get it to work for me. I was really hoping it would.

@adam – Glad it worked out.

@Niackery – The latest version of the beta should automatically move your settings over. Even if you manually install it. The only caveat is that I’ve limited the number of inline lightboxes to 50 due to a number of factors. However I made them re-usable.

@stanji It looks like it’s not pickup the style. Take a look at Lightbox Plus Colorbox – Base Settings –> Styles and make sure a style is chosen. Also I just updated all the files so you might want to grab the latest beta.

Hi. Please, for this version, add a better support for WP captions in the lightbox images. I use the Dark style and it is not showing any caption although that option is ticked. For some styles, if captions are longer than expected, it does not look good. May you trim captions or adapt them in a transparent box overlaying the image.

I’m looking forward to this major update.

@arkantos I noticed in the code that the captions option was not getting anything. Not sure if I accidentally disabled it at on point or what. Should be fixed in the next version. I can add an option to trim long titles but you can also modify the styles to fit your title as well. Additionally I’m looking at adding some helpers for the styles to expand the text area to handle longer text.

It fixes center positioning in screen for secondary. For some reason could not get it to work with latest plugin version and WP 4.0.1.
